Book Title & Author: Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris
How Many Pages Did You Read? 35 (Pages 3-38)
Story Overview:
First Chapter: The main character in this novel is David Sedris. David is a young student(not sure what grade). He talks about his speech class and how he doesn't enjoy it. He feels embarrassed by it when his teacher calls him out in class. Over time, he figures out ways to avoid using 'S' sounds. His mother provides him with a pocket thesaurus and his teachers were soon impressed on his new use of vocabulary. By the end of the chapter, his speech teacher is being transferred so they have a small going away party. David feels sad now because he finally got to know his cool teacher.

Chapter 2: The writer goes back to a time when he was 12 years old. Davids father was a big jazz fan and he always tried to influence his children with jazz. As much as David and his sisters didn't like it, they still continued to listen. Later Davids father had this great idea of having a 'family band'. Soon enough David was attending guitar lessons with a guy named Mister Mancini. He was a goofy instructor but didn't seem to catch Davids interest for the guitar. By the end of the chapter, David had quit because he felt as if the instrument wasn't for him. He had come to realize that he was more interested in singing.

How Many Pages Did You Read? 52
Story Overview
David explains how his brother tends to use a lot of curse words and basically talks about his family life. There was also a very humorous chapter when he explains how his sister and him went to go stay at a relatives house and he was having 'bathroom difficulties'. Later I found out how David got a job opportunity that he personally think he didn't deserve. He was a really poor college professor.
